May: A Month of Flowers, Growth, and Gratitude

May was a whirlwind in the very best way.

The month kicked off with a pop-up at WineXpress, and what an experience it was. Not only did I sell out, but I sold out both days. Between restocking, creating custom orders, and making a few emergency trips home for more flowers, I was running on caffeine and excitement. To say I was tired would be an understatement, but when you’re surrounded by flowers and smiling customers, it’s hard not to enjoy every minute of it.

Back at home, May is prime growing season. Dahlia tubers were waking up, zinnias and cosmos were stretching toward the sun, and the garden was beginning to look more like the flower farm I’ve been dreaming about. Of course, gardening likes to keep us humble. We had a week of nonstop rain that unfortunately rotted some tubers despite my best attempts at makeshift covers and creative weather protection. The things we do for our plants!

There were plenty of lessons this month too. Bug pressure arrived, some plants grew slower than expected, and a few things didn’t go according to plan. But that’s part of growing flowers. Every challenge teaches something new, and every season makes me a better grower.

Looking back, May was full of long days, muddy shoes, tired muscles, and countless moments of gratitude. The flowers are growing, the business is growing, and so am I. I can’t wait to see what June has in store.

Until next time,
Betty
