August: Hot Days & a New Spot for Our Flowers
August came in hot—and the garden seemed to take that as a challenge. There was plenty blooming, which meant plenty of time spent cutting flowers, making custom bouquets, and trying to get everything into water before the heat got to me.
Another exciting first for Pepperwood Petal: our bouquets found a spot at a local wine store! Flowers and wine feel like a pretty good pairing, if you ask me. It’s been fun knowing someone might stop in for a bottle and leave with a bouquet too.
August was also when we took a much-needed 10-day break. I was ready to rest, but by the end of it, I was already wondering what was blooming back home. Apparently, I can take a break from the flowers, but I can’t stop thinking about them.
The photo here shows a little extra I started adding to custom orders: a note from the garden and a packet of zinnia seeds. It makes me happy to send someone home with flowers to enjoy now and a few they can grow later.
Thank you to everyone who ordered a custom bouquet, picked up flowers at the wine store, or shared Pepperwood Petal with a friend in August. You made this hot, busy month a really lovely one.
